GUIDELINES FOR VISA APPLICATION

VISA CATEGORIES

Business Visa

Eligibility
Business Visa is available to citizens of all countries except ECOWAS Nationals who do not require visa to visit Nigeria and other countries which Nigeria has entered into visa abolition agreements.

Class of Persons Eligible to Business Visa
Foreign Travelers who wish to visit Nigeria for the purpose of Meeting, Conference, Seminar, Contract Negotiation, Marketing, Sales, Purchase distribution of Nigerian Goods, Trade Fairs, Job interviews, Training of Nigerians, Emergency/Relief work, Crew members, Staff of NGOs, Staff of INGOs, Researchers, Musical concerts.

Requirements
Passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank visa pages for endorsement.
Two (2) recent passport sized (35/40mm) photograph.
Return ticket.
Evidence of sufficient funds
Evidence of Hotel Reservation/host address in Nigeria.

Validity: Validity of stay is 90 days (not extendable)

Caution: Note that this Visa is not valid for employment.

Timeline: 2 – 3 working days from receipt of application.

Official Visa

Eligibility

  • Visiting Heads of States and their families.
  • Top officials of Government and their families.
  • Diplomats and their families.
  • Holders of United Nations Diplomatic Passport and Laisser passez.
  • Members of accredited Diplomatic Missions.
  • Members of International Organizations.
  • Members of accredited International non-governmental organizations.

Requirements for the issuance of Official / Diplomatic Visa / Entry Permitts

  • Valid standard, official or diplomatic passports.
  • Note Verbale.
  • Obtainable from Nigerian Missions abroa

Transit Visa

Eligibility
Transit Visa is available to citizens of all countries except ECOWAS Nationals who do not require visa to visit Nigeria and other countries which Nigeria has entered into visa abolition agreements.

Class of Persons Eligible for Transit Visa
Foreign Travelers wishing to enter Nigeria for onward destination outside the country.

Requirements:
Passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank visa pages for endorsement.
Two (2) recent passport sized (35/40mm) photograph.
Confirmed ticket to destination outside Nigeria.
Evidence of sufficient funds
Evidence of Hotel Reservation.

Validity:
7 days Maximum period of stay.

Tourist Visa

Eligibility
Tourist Visa is available to citizens of all countries except ECOWAS Nationals who do not require visa to visit Nigeria and other countries which Nigeria has entered into visa abolition agreements.

Class of Persons Eligible for Tourist Visa

  • Foreign Travelers who wish to visit Nigeria for the purpose of Tourism.
  • Foreign Travelers who wish to visit family and friends.

Requirements

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank visa pages for endorsement.
  • Valid return ticket.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds.
  • Address of host in Nigeria or Evidence of hotel reservation.
  • Invitation letter from host in Nigeria.

Validity: Validity of stay is 90 days

Temporary Work Permit

Eligibility
Experts invited by corporate bodies to provide specialized skilled services, such as after sales installation, maintenance, repairs of machines & equipment.

Requirements for the issuance of Temporary Work Permit (TWP)

  • Confirmed Airline Return ticket.
  • Acceptance of IR (Immigration Responsibility) by inviting Organizations or individual.
  • Obtainable only from the Office of the Comptroller General of Immigration in the Nigerian Immigration Service Headquarters, Abuja.

Explanatory Note

IR means acceptance of Immigration Responsibility which includes but not limited to – accommodation/feeding and if need be the cost of repatriation or deportation.

General Application Procedures
Step 1: Apply online. Complete the online visa application on https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/ and print completed form.
Step 2: Pay online https://portal.immigration.gov.ng and print payment receipt.
Step 3: Affix 2 passport sized (35/40mm) passport photographs with white background.

Step 4: Download and complete the IMM22 form (download at https://oisservices.com/FORM%20IMM22.pdf)
Step 5: Contact OIS S.R.L, located at Via Sicilia, 3000187 Rome, Italy, through Tel: +39 (0) 642012121 or inforome@oisservices.com to book an appointment for biometric enrolment and submission of four (4) copies of the completed IMM22 form and all other required documents.

GUIDELINES FOR PASSPORT APPLICATION

STEP I

Log on to the website of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/ to fill the application form and make online payment, as applicable.

STEP II

Book an appointment free of charge online at https://appointments.immigration.gov.ng

REQUIREMENTS

Fresh Passport Applicants (first time applicants)

Documents required for the processing of passport application for fresh applicant are:

  • Evidence of Online payment for Passport (Print-out of Online Payment Receipt from the Immigration website: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/)
  • For applicants born in Nigeria, both original and photocopy of birth Certificate or Attestation of Birth issued by the National Population Commission (NPC) and duly signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. For applicants born in Italy, both original and photocopy of birth Certificate issued by Italian authorities;
  • Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs;
  • Certificate of Origin issued by applicant’s Local Government Area (Both Original & Photocopy);
  • Residence Permit and Proof of Address in Italy (Both Originals & Photocopies);
  • Hand written letter stating the circumstances of being in Italy without Nigerian passport (for applicants born in Nigeria); and
  • Letter of consent from both Parents (for children below 18 years of age).

Renewal of Passport

Documents required for the processing of application for renewal of passport are:

  • Evidence of Online payment for Passport (Print-out of Online Payment Receipt from the Immigration website: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/);
  • Old/expired Passport booklet (Both Original & Photocopy of Data Page);
  • Residence Permit and Proof of Address in Italy (Both Originals & Photocopies); and
  • Two (2) passport-sized photographs of the Applicant.

Replacement of Lost/Stolen Passport

Documents required for the replacement of lost/stolen passport are:

  • Police Report;
  • Evidence of Online payment for Passport (Print-out of Online Payment Receipt from the Immigration website: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/);
  • Photocopy of Data Page of lost/stolen passport;
  • Residence Permit and Proof of Address in Italy (Both Originals & Photocopies); and
  • Two (2) passport-sized photographs of the Applicant.

Correction of Data on Passport due to Marriage

Documents required for correction of data due to marriage are: Application Letter; Copy of Marriage Certificate or Declaration of Marriage; Sworn Affidavit from a Magistrate or High Court of Change of Name deposed to by Applicant; Copy of Newspaper Publication of Change of Name (21 days after publication); Statutory evidence of change of name (if resident outside Nigeria); Passport Booklet and Copy of Data Page of Passport; and Acknowledgement Slip & Evidence of Payment.

Correction of data due to Error

Documents required for correction of data due to error(s) on existing passport are: Application Letter stating reason(s) for change; attach evidence of payment to NIS of non-refundable Administrative Charge of NGN 30,000.00 only; Previous documentary evidences to support request; Passport Booklet and Copy of Data Page; Sworn Affidavit from a Magistrate or High Court of correction of error, deposed to by Applicant; Acknowledgement Slip & Evidence of Payment of passport fees; and Copy of Newspaper Publication of Change of name 21 days after the publication.

AT THE EMBASSY

  1. Administrative charge of €30.00 per applicant; and
  2. Courier postage fee of €25.00.

OPENING HOURS

The Consular & Immigration Section is opened to the public from Mondays to Wednesdays (9:00am – 2:00pm daily) for passport biometric enrolment, and also on Thursdays for addressing passport-related issues. Visitation to the Consular & Immigration Section is strictly by appointment and the Section is closed on public holidays.
